4 Degrees Warmer: Great Cities Wash Away
If the world warms by four degrees oceans will rise and glaciers will disappear, cutting off fresh water to billions.

Talking about Wildfires flare up in West - Weather - MSNBC.com

Well,  Montana is on fire again.  Great.  I put it under the catagory of Global Warming.  Not sure if that is fair, but what the heck!

Talking about Partners drive towards 50 million trees - Climate Change - MSNBC.com

Note:  Yes wildfires kill trees.  However, I seriously question that they neccessarily need to be replanted.  Many forests replant themselves after wildfire.  Are these forests truly composed of species that cannot regenerate?  The forest service replants trees- do they need 50 million dollars from a rental car company to do that?  Were the forests salvage logged?  Why do these forests need to be replanted?  Is this doing any good?  Or is it just a waste of 50 million that could be used to say- set aside a forest reserve somewhere by buying land?  Are appropriate tree species being planted?   Are genetically appropriate and diverse seed stock being used?  This article leaves much to be desired.   Is this restoration or waste of funds that could buy up rainforest or restore prairie on old grainfields?  I demand ecological accountability for treeplanting!  If Enterprise wants to do 50 million trees worth of restoration fine!  Just don't be planting them next to natural seedlings, or in areas where natural seedlings have been destroyed by careless salvage logging- the timber companies should have to pay for replanting if that is the case.  If they are planted in area with natural regeneration of say Lodgepole pine which burns easily, and they want to plant something a little longer lived and fire resistant like Western Larch or Ponderosa that would be fine.  Or how about doing restoration on White Pines, Whitebark Pines, Limber Pines, American Chestnuts, American Elms, Port Orford Cedar- all decreased by non-native forest diseases and pests?
